I found some other posts about this, people claim the solution is to install DirectX 9. Noire already has the.exe you need within it's directory. From the steam folder: Steam - SteamApps - common - L.A. Noire - 3rd - DXSETUP.exe. I'm guessing the launcher needs DirectX 9 because it is the default/mandatory version. Copy file dxsetup.exe to the installation directory of the program that is requesting dxsetup.exe. If that doesn't work, you will have to copy dxsetup.exe to your system directory. By default, this is: Reboot your computer. Open Windows Start menu and select 'Run.' Type regsvr32 dxsetup.exe and press Enter. During setup process Rename file to install as LANOIRE. Not in program files or any other sub folder. Beware shutdown LA Noire crashes windows every time on.
