'RE: Rockwell activation repair' Is it the Key Disk that went bad or the activation on your hard drive? If it is the activation on the hard drive then you can just reset the Key Disk over the internet at www.rockwellsoftware.com or even just use the disk itself to activate the computer. For some it was the fact that the older “Floppy Master Disk” activation would allow the use of the original “Master Disk” as a back-up activation in case the movable activation file was lost or corrupted. To address this, in CPR9 Rockwell added a FactoryTalk Activation “Grace Period” mode into software products which used FactoryTalk activation.

Is it the Key Disk that went bad or the activation on your hard drive?

If it is the activation on the hard drive then you can just reset the Key Disk over the internet at www.rockwellsoftware.com or even just use the disk itself to activate the computer.

To use the Key Disk itself to activate the computer you can just go find the file rocksoft.ini and add (or change) the line keydisk=true. That way when you start the RSLogix software it will first look to the hard drive for the activation and then if it doesn't find one, it will look to the floppy drive for the master (Key) disk. If it finds the master disk then it lets the software load.

If it is the Key Disk itself I don't know that you can repair the disk without altering the special format of the disk. Can you just call Rockwell Tech Support and have them send you a new disk?

If you can access the activation help file, it also details another (very similar) method of activating the computer by using a command called 'checkdrives' - One of our pc's gives an error message if we try to move activation onto it's hard drive, but the software (rslogix5) runs ok with the master disk in the 'a' drive!

You can reset your activation file from the Rockwell Software Web Site or calling Tech Support. having your disk and serial number available.

If you have your key disk, it is easy to 'RESET' the key disk from the internet. However, you can only do this once a year.

If you don't have your key disk, you can call Rockwell and they will send you a replacement disk free of charge, provided you are currently under a support contract.

If you aren't under a support contract, they will gladly reinstate your support agreement for a complete year for a fee.

Good luck.
Pat

I am new to this web site so I will try to be brief, please do not tell me to buy a legit copy etc.
I have worked with Logix based software most of my life.
Rockwell Master Disk Activation Early on I received a key that was on a USB stick that allowed me to transfer the key onto my notebook. RSLOGIX5000 V19 on a 64-bit operating system. (enabled the key software to run as an administrator and then transfer as XP compatible) No problems the software ran fine for 1 year (I do own a legitimate key as this was purchased software).
Anyway along comes version V20 and it has Factory Talk activation V3.5 when I installed this I now have to register my software on the internet to allow this to work.
I lost V19 as the Activation is now controlled by Factory Talk.
After removing all the RSLogix software and re-installing RSLOGIX5000 V19 I am left with the following conclusion.

Rockwell Master Disk Activation Instructions

Don't bother with RSLOGIX5000 V20
and
If Factory Talk Activation can be left at V3.2 (came with V19) then perhaps RSLOGIX5000 V20 can run with the same key.

Maybe I am barking up the wrong tree.
